The Detroit Food Commons is a two-story, 31,000 Sq. Ft. community development project spearheaded by the Detroit Black Community Food Sovereignty Network and our partner, Develop Detroit, Incorporated. We chose Black-owned companies L.S. Brinker Construction and architect SDG Associates to bring the vision of the Detroit Food Commons into reality. The $22 million project required multiple funding streams, including donations, grants, and loans.
